Review of Mybus Primary School Services – Service S21

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority provides Mybus yellow bus services for primary school children across West Yorkshire, including Service S21 at St Theresa’s Catholic Primary School.  

These services were first introduced under a government backed scheme to give parents the confidence to allow their children to travel to and from school by bus but are not a statutory requirement.      

Reductions in available funding for subsidised bus services means that the Combined Authority has had to review these services to ensure that they are value for money for local tax payers.

 The number of children registered to use Service S21 has reduced over the last three years as shown in the table below.

This means that Service S21 does not meet the Combined Authority’s value for money criteria and as there are suitable walking or public transport alternatives for the journey to and from school, accompanied as necessary, we are planning to withdraw Service S21 after the end of the current school year.  


Between 25 June 2018 and 6 July 2018 we are inviting comments on the proposed withdrawal to better understand the potential impacts on children / parents and to make sure that the alternative walking or transport opportunities as set out below are suitable for everyone.
