Priority PhotoCard

 

What is a Priority PhotoCard? 

  • A Priority PhotoCard entitles the holder to a place on the bus service specified on the card only
  • it has NO cash value and cannot be used on other services
  • It must be used in conjunction with some form of payment or pass 

Conditions of Use of The Priority PhotoCard

  • The Priority PhotoCard is not a travel ticket. It is valid only when used in conjunction with a cash fare or valid pre-paid ticket
  • It must only be used on the service specified on the front of the card    
  • It must also be shown to the driver and any ticket checking staff. These staff have the right to retain the PhotoCard, particularly where misuse is suspected or the PhotoCard has been damaged, defaced or in any way tampered with  
  • The PhotoCard remains at all times the property of WYCA  
  • If the PhotoCard is not required for any reason, you must return it to us so we may offer the place to someone else. Please note that WYCA reserve the right to cancel the Photo-Card if it is not used for 15 consecutive days 

How to apply

Not all school buses require a Priority PhotoCard. Some school buses you can board and pay a fare like you would on a public service bus. Your schools page in the A-Z school finder will tell you whether you need to apply or not.

If your service requires a Priority PhotoCard' complete the Secondary School Application Form.

Using your card 

Show your Priority PhotoCard to the driver and pay your fare in one of the following ways:  

  • Cash – pay your fare directly to the driver.
  • Under 19 Bus-only ticket - A weekly or monthly pre-paid ticket valid on most school bus services * The Under 19 ticket which is loaded onto your Under 16 or 16-18 PhotoCard is a great way to save and can be used on evenings and weekends too. Show your Priority PhotoCard to the driver and scan your Under 16 or 16-18 PhotoCard** on the ticket machine as your payment.  More information about the Under 19 Bus Only ticket.
  • School Pass (free travel) – If you are entitled to free travel you may have a free School Pass as form of payment. Show the driver your Priority PhotoCard and scan your School Pass on the ticket machine.

*The Under 19 Bus-only ticket is not accepted on certain school services. Check this list for more information. 

**Pupils must have an Under 16 or 16-18 PhotoCard to buy an Under 19 ticket as this is loaded onto the smart PhotoCard. A paper receipt will be provided. We recommend you keep this safe as proof of purchase in case the card reader is not working on the bus.  

Use public transport regularly? Claim half-fare travel! 

If you are under 18 and a resident in West Yorkshire then you are entitled to half-fare travel in West Yorkshire. You will need to apply for an Under 16 or 16-18 PhotoCard.
