How to apply for a school bus pass

Application forms for school year September 2019 - July 2020

Important update: Education Transport staff are following Government guidance are now home working due to Coronavirus. Regretably this means:-

  • we are unable to post out paper forms by request until further notice

  • we are unable to access and process any paper forms sent to our Wellington House office until further notice

We are currently working on an alternative method to accept paper based applications - we will review this on the 1st May 2020.


General information

Do I need a pass? The majority of secondary school services require a Priority PhotoCard before the child can board and a small number are 'turn up and ride'. If you're not sure if your service requires one, please lookup your school in our Schools A-Z list. See also our frequently asked questions page and our quick 'how to use school bus services' guide.

Guidelines for the provision of and allocation to school services: you can read about the guidelines which set out the principles and standards that we, WYCA, will use in providing school buses under its Transport Act powers.

Deadlines: we accept applications all year round. Primary school applications only must be received by end of office hours each Wednesday in order to start travelling the next Monday week commencing.

Secondary school Priority PhotoCard application form school year 2019-20

Renew your pass from school year 2018-19: if your child had a purple Priority PhotoCard valid until July 2019 you can renew your pass by completing an online form (opens in a new window). 

An email address is mandatory and is used to confirm receipt of your application. A passport style photograph is not required. If you prefer not to do this online, you can complete the new starter paper form below.

New starter application: if your child is starting year 7, or has not used a school bus for some years, download a pdf version of the application form to print out and send in by post [PDF form currently unavailable]. A passport style photograph is required.

MyBus primary school application form school year 2019-20

Full Routes -: Routes K71 and K72 Netherhall Learning Campus, P35 Sandy Lane School, P40 Sacred Heart Sowerby Bridge, P66 Baildon School, P67 Badsworth School, P76 Holy Rosary and St Anne's School are all full. Any applications received will be held over until if and when capacity becomes available. Route P93 is very close to capacity.

WG2 Dane Royd School applications - this service is only for those who reside in Woolley Grange and qualify for statutory zero fare. Sorry, but we cannot register cash fare payers or out of area residents. Applicants must complete our form below for a place on the bus and apply for zero fare through Wakefield Council as well.

All passengers must be pre-registered to all primary school Mybus services. Applications must be received by end of office hours each Wednesday in order to start travelling the following Monday week commencing. No passport photograph is required for primary school applications.
