16 November 2017

Bradford Oastler Markets ShuttleWest Yorkshire Combined Authority has been working with Bradford Council and local bus company TLC and to make it easier for people to get to the city’s Oastler Market.

A new shuttle bus service Bradford Interchange and the Oastler Market has been launched with a special Combined Authority-funded fare of just 50p each way. All MCard travel smartcards and concessionary passes will be valid on the services, numbers 635 or 676 , which run twice an hour directly between Stand 1 of the Interchange and Oastler Market.

The Markets Shuttle Service is being run by local bus company TLC as part of existing routes in the city centre. People can also catch services 635, 643 or 644 to the Interchange from either bus stop J1 on John Street or W4 on Westgate.

Cllr Keith Wakefield, Chair of West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Transport Committee said: "I am pleased that the Combined Authority has been able to help support Bradford’s Oastler Market by negotiating this ticketing initiative and providing marketing to make the public aware of the opportunity to travel to the market by bus.

Coun Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and transport, said: “We’ve got some great offers at Oastler Market and now it’s going to be easier than ever to get there with this new shuttle service. We’re delighted to be working with TLC and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to put this in place.”

David Crompton, owner of A.J Pickup & Son butchers in the Oastler Centre, said he hoped the new cut-price fare would lead to more people shopping there.
