All day, on any bus, anywhere in West Yorkshire

MyDay is a new all-day, £2.60 county-wide bus ticket for West Yorkshire’s young people. It is a paper ticket bought on the bus and is valid all day, on any bus, anywhere in West Yorkshire for anyone aged under 19. Although under-16s will no longer have to show their proof of age PhotoCard, 17 and 18 year-olds may be asked to show their blue 16-18 PhotoCard.

Under 16 and 16-18 PhotoCards give half-fare bus and train travel in West Yorkshire at any time of the day, including evenings and weekends. Discounted weekly, monthly and termly tickets can be loaded for unlimited travel across West Yorkshire.

Unlimited

The 19-25 or Student PhotoCard provides holders with huge savings on unlimited bus and train travel throughout West Yorkshire when loaded with a weekly, monthly or termly ticket. They are available to anyone aged under 26, whether they are studying, working or just want much cheaper travel as well as to full-time students aged over 26.

A 19-25 or Student PhotoCard countywide bus ticket costs just £15.40 per week or £59.50 per month and bus and rail (Zones 1-5) travel costs £23.40 per week and £88.60 per month. Students can enjoy even greater savings by buying termly tickets with the Autumn Term covering 15 weeks bus and rail travel throughout West Yorkshire from 03/09/18 to 16/12/18 costing just £253.00.

For the 2018/2019 academic year, the cost of termly tickets will be £253 (Autumn) £211.70 (Spring) and £149.70 (Summer).

Win up to £160 of free travel

Cllr Kim Groves, Chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority Transport Committee said: “MCard’s MyDay ticket and PhotoCards can help young people get the most out of our bus and train networks during the summer break and right through the year.

“I would urge young people to go along to our fun events, find out more about the travel savings they can make with MCard and also have the chance of winning up to £160 of free travel. And I would urge parents to make sure that young people in the household know all about these events and the savings they can make with MCard.”

MCard staff will be at each event to discuss all the products MCard has to offer for young people living in West Yorkshire. People who come along will also be able to play the MCard target board game and have the chance to win a month of bus and rail travel worth £160 or one of the runner-up prizes of £5 Day Savers. There are 20 prizes up for grabs at each event and winners will be notified in October.
