A new
survey of bus passengers in West Yorkshire has revealed that 91%
are satisfied with their bus journey.
Conducted by Passenger Focus, the Bus Passenger Survey looked
how different operators and Passenger Transport Executives handled
key areas such as punctuality, frequency and provision of
information and facilities at bus stops.
"I'm pleased that so many West Yorkshire bus passengers are
satisfied with their bus journey," said Metro Chairman Cllr Chris
Greaves.
"It's testament to the way Metro, the bus operators and the
district councils work together to meet our aim of providing
high-quality, accessible transport for everyone in West
Yorkshire.
"We will continue to invest in West Yorkshire's bus network,
infrastructure, vehicles and drivers to create services that are
fit for purpose, popular with the people who use them.
"We will also focus on those areas where passengers said they
were less satisfied, and continue to look at how we can encourage
more car drivers on to the bus, to help combat congestion and
reduce carbon levels."
Metro was the highest-rated Passenger Transport Executive (PTE)
area in the survey, and scored over 90% satisfaction for real-time
information, accessibility and timetable information at bus stops.
Bus services in West Yorkshire were also rated highly for
punctuality, personal safety and the ability to get a seat.
